PBR Review: (by- Andrea)
I was surprised by how much I loved this book. The story follows Elizabeth Zott as she struggles with the limitations of being an accomplished woman in the 1960s. She is a brilliant chemist and single mother who begrudgingly and unexpectantly becomes a cooking show host. From the beginning of her career, Elizabeth has to overcome obstacles and ignore criticism in the sexist environment of the era. But she is unapologetically straightforward and carves her path with strength and dignity. This book is heartfelt, charming, and funny all at the same time. I enjoyed all the characters, especially Elizabeth's little dog, six-thirty, who was incredibly intuitive. Don't miss this one! It would make an outstanding Book Club Choice. |
