The Book of Doors

by Gareth Brown
An engaging read with great, intriguing characters and a fun, entertaining premise. The plot is twisty and keeps the story moving. The story revolves around the concept of magical books and doors that are portals- a fun read.

Book Review

(by- Linda )

I really enjoyed this book. The main characters - Cassie, Izzy, and Drummond were all compelling, but I was especially drawn to Drummond. He was so mysterious, this sort of guardian of the magic. It was also interesting to see Cassie and Izzy as apprentices, trying to figure out this dangerous world and who they could trust.

I also enjoyed the imaginative and well-paced plot and thought the author created a truly immersive world. The highlight for me, though, was the concept of the doors as portals. I'm a fan of time travel stories, and this one was well-executed and believable within the context of the book. Unfortunately, I am not ready to fully believe I can time travel - but I'm fascinated with it and ready to try it if it ever becomes a reality.

Another essential part of this story is that it was thought-provoking. The author uses magic to make us think hard about the choices we face daily as technology changes our world. He uses the internal dialog of the characters as they struggle with options that are sometimes morally grey as a sober reminder that power can be either good or evil and must be kept in check.

This is an excellent book for those who like a story that makes them question what they believe in and for those who like fantasies.
