I've enjoyed Katherine Center's books for years, so I went into The Shippers with high expectations. As always, her writing is warm, funny and you will love spending time with her characters. The story also has all the right ingredients of a classic romantic comedy: quirky situations, emotional baggage, unexpected chemistry, and plenty of humor. I must say, however, this was not my favorite Katherine Center novel; I just found some of the plot twists and situations a little too over-the-top, even for a rom-com. That said, there is still a lot to enjoy here. Katherine Center shines when she explores themes of self-discovery, resilience, and learning to take risks. The romance is sweet, the pacing good, and the book has the feel-good charm that many readers look for in summer reading. Fans of Lighthearted romantic comedies will likely have a great time with it, especially if they enjoy stories that lean into the genre's fun and sometimes outrageous. |
