Book Review

(by- Linda )

This book was fantastic - emotionally gripping and well-researched, with complex, relatable characters and an incredible sense of time and place.

It's about two close friends, Lili and Esti, who are Jewish and living in Italy during WWII, and how they survived Mussolini's Racial Laws and Germany invading Italy by forging papers, joining illegal resistance groups, and relying on the kindness of strangers.

The book is also about friendship and what close friends will do for one another. Lili and Esti shared a bond that even the most horrific circumstances could not break. I enjoyed reading about this and thought what these two incredible women shared was the heart of the story.

If you like stories about strong women and people bonding together to overcome adverisity or stories about the power of motherhhod and the length a mother will go to protect her child - you will love this book. Highly recommend
