I don't usually read romance books, but I needed a change of pace - something light but engaging. And I have to say, I'm thrilled I picked The Dead Romantics. It was precisely what I was looking for; fun, quirky, and easy to read, but layered and complex, giving me something to think about.
The plot revolves around a young woman who is a Ghostwriter for a well-known romance author. But she has serious writer's block. To further complicate things, her wounds from a painful breakup are still healing. As a result, she is totally disillusioned with love. She no longer believes in happy endings, making it impossible to finish her latest book.
Of course, there's also the romance - Ben and Florence have incredible chemistry, but I also loved how the author deals with grief and family, and forgiveness.
