Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall is the kind of book that quietly grips you and doesn't let go. Set in a small rural village filled with secrets, the story follows Beth, a woman caught between the life she's built and the one she left behind. I loved this book! It's a beautifully written emotional read and will stay with you long after you finish. As the summary states "the farmer is dead". This is revealed in the first chapter of book and it alternates between the current courtroom drama and the story leading up to the event. It's fantastic. The characters are well drawn, there's mystery, suspense, betrayal, romance and plenty of family drama. Don't miss this one. |
