Book Review

(by- Linda )

I really enjoyed The Amalfi Curse. It combines mystery, history, and a bit of magic. The story follows Haven, a nautical archaeologist. After her father's death, she goes to the Amalfi Coast, where she finds something much more complicated than the treasure she was looking for.

A second storyline from the 1800s features Mari, a sea witch bound by a dark family legacy. Mari's story is full of impossible choices. With dual timeline stories, I usually prefer one over the other, but that was not the case here - I was just as drawn to her chapters as to Haven's.

I loved the strong women in the story and also the way the author explored themes like grief and sacrifice in a way that didn't feel too heavy. I wanted to keep reading, but I also didn't want it to end.

This may be my new favorite of her books. Still, I also loved The Lost Apothecary, so it's hard to be sure - they were both immersive with lots of emotional pull.
